Social Marketing Requires Conversation
Chris Heuer discusses the importance of conversation in nurturing relationships with others, including customers.
Social Marketing IS NOT throwing someone a link to a product and expecting them to make a purchase.
Social Marketing is a matter of engaging others in a conversation and, yes, this even means your potential customers and past customores to include them into the process and demonstrate that they do matter to you and your ventures.

Relationships and Likability Are the Keys to Success
People like to do business with people they like. Brian clearly states the case I presented in Baltimore.
It is critical that people will come to know you and like you before they will ever trust you. That is the very power of using social media marketing and the various social media platforms.
You must be authentic and transparent. As Coach Deb Micek says: "There is no line between business and personal anymore."

Self-Service Widgets are Coming to a Social Site of Yours Soon!
Over the last two years, widgets have surged in popularity because--unlike pop-ups--their presence is controlled entirely by the users themselves and they are generally used to complement social networking and blogging experiences.
According to comScore, nearly 148 million U.S. consumers, or 81% of Web users, viewed widgets in November of last year. Widget ads, meanwhile, are expected to boost social network advertising by 70% to $1.6 billion in 2008, according to a recent projection by eMarketer.

Linking Strategies Don't Work....Without Solid SEO Basics
Relevant links are of little value if you forget the SEO basics!
I was fortunate enough to grow with the Internet and learned to master search engine optimization in the pre-Google days.
People telling you that it is important for you to attract relevant one-way links pointing at you and support it with appropriately targeted anchor keyword link exchanges, they can be of little to no value if you neglect the SEO basics. This includes some tasks that some gurus say don't matter any more.
You are advised to believe them at your own risk!
This is a sobering article to keep your link building and SEO strategies centered.
